Family violence is a major issue in Victoria, heightened even more by the recent pandemic with a significant increase in reported cases in 2020.
Refuge Victoria supported over 1,000 women and children last financial year, many of whom are living in emergency accommodation after escaping family violence.
The government funding we receive is primarily reserved for baseline responses including case management and crisis accommodation and we therefore depend on the generosity of supporters to provide the most effective responses possible for clients.
There are many ways in which you can help us ensure these people receive the best care and experience while in our service.
Volunteering services such as gardening or maintenance work helps maintain the high standard of our refuge centres.
Donations go a long way to providing essential items such as toiletries, food, blankets and clothing, as often clients come into our care without these things.
Whether you’re an individual, a community group or corporate organisation wanting to contribute, every act counts towards a person’s journey from crisis to safety.
