Refuge Victoria is the largest provider of family violence refuge accommodation in Victoria.

Across metropolitan Melbourne, we operate:

  • Three refuges – two in the east and one in the west; and
  • 15 crisis properties.

We also have nomination rights to 35 Transitional Housing Management (THM) properties.

Our refuges comprise individual units with their own kitchen, bathrooms and separate courtyards. The units vary in size from one to three bedrooms, and they have disability access.  All units are fully furnished, and bedding and linen is provided.

Our refuges are at undisclosed locations and are gated and secure. We have enclosed secure parking for clients.  Each refuge site has children’s playgrounds, barbeque facilities and a multipurpose room for activities. Our staff are located on site in separate offices with meeting rooms.

Our crisis properties are individual homes located throughout Melbourne at undisclosed locations. They are two to three bedrooms homes with their own gardens and off-street parking. The average stay at one of our refuges or crisis properties is six weeks.

At Refuge Victoria, we welcome pets in our properties as we have separate enclosed courtyards and gardens.

Working with Community Housing Providers, we also have nomination rights over 35 THM properties. Sometimes after our clients have stayed with us at a refuge or crisis property, they move into a THM property awaiting permanent housing.  THMs are individual homes located throughout Melbourne.
