Dr Kim Robinson

Dr Kim Robinson is an Associate Professor in social work at Deakin University and social work and researcher with over three decades of national and international expertise working within community health, refugee services, local government, and health care settings in Australia, Timor Leste and the United Kingdom. Kim brings the combination of her social work practice experience along with 20 years of teaching, research, publications and presentations at conferences, advocacy for ethical work supporting human rights in health and social work settings, and leadership in higher education to support Refuge Victoria’s governance.
Kim currently teaches into the Master of Social Work, and Bachelor of Social Work Honours programs at Deakin University where she is also the Deputy Director of the Higher Degree Research (HDR) in the School of Health and Social Development. She works in collaboration with colleagues at both national and international levels to inform policy and practice in the areas of asylum seekers and refugees, and domestic and family violence. Kim has published in the areas of asylum and refugee mental health, family violence, disability, ethics, social justice issues with young people, and culturally diverse communities.
