Donate a gift to a family spending Christmas in refuge

Christmas for kids in family violence refuge can be lonely and frightening. They have had to leave their homes, their families and friends; they’re often traumatised, and their future is uncertain.

“How will Santa know where to find me?” is a question refuge staff are often asked.

You can make sure every child is visited by Santa this Christmas – and their mums too – by supporting Refuge Victoria’s Wishing Tree Campaign.

Simply choose a donation amount, then select who you are buying the gift for.

When you donate to Refuge Victoria’s Wishing Tree, you’re giving more than a gift

Families coming into refuge have often experienced years of abuse; they’ve had little power or control over decisions that affect them. Mums haven’t been able to buy Christmas presents for their kids and they’re often overlooked at Christmas. Kids frequently miss out on the opportunity to celebrate their mums during what should be a very special time.

That’s why Refuge Victoria’s Wishing Tree collects funds for presents, rather than presents themselves.

With the funds generously donated, refuge staff take the families shopping, allowing them to chose and buy presents for each other. It means kids get the Christmas presents they have been dreaming of; children are given the joy of buying a gift for their mums.

When you donate to Refuge Victoria’s Wishing Tree, you’re giving more than just a gift – you’re helping give families their lives back.
