It’s National Reconciliation Week 2022 (27 May to 3 June), a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The theme of National Reconciliation Week 2022 is “Be Brave. Make Change.” It’s a challenge to all Australians to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.
This week Refuge Victoria is affirming our commitment to working to make our organisation more culturally safe and respectful, and to better engage and respond to First Nations clients and community.
We understand that escaping family violence presents many challenges particular to First Nations peoples and keeping the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians at the forefront of the national agenda is a key focus of our work.
Refuge Victoria believes we can all be brave and play a role in reconciliation and honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.
