Leave a Legacy of Hope
Every bequest, no matter how big or small, will help us to provide essential services as well as therapeutic programs, health and wellbeing assistance, and support with legal aide. Leaving a gift in your Will is an impactful way to make a difference in the lives of women and children escaping family violence, and your generosity ensures futures free from violence.
How to Leave a Gift in Your Will
Leaving a gift to Refuge Victoria is easy. If you don’t have a will and want to create one, we suggest seeking professional advice. If you don’t have a solicitor, you can contact the Public Trustee in your state or territory.
If you already have a Will, you will need to add a codicil to make any small legal amendments to an existing will.
Types of Gifts
You can choose how you’d like to donate to Refuge Victoria:
- A Percentage: Giving a percentage ensures that your bequest changes over time.
- A Fixed Amount: This provides a clear, specific amount to Refuge Victoria but may need periodic updates.
- The Residue: Leaving what remains of your estate to Refuge Victoria ensures that your loved ones are provided for first.
- A Special Gift: Gifts like property, shares, or life insurance policies can have a lasting impact.
Each of these options makes a significant impact while also offering flexibility and can be tailored to your wishes.
Suggested Wording
Depending on the type of gift you would like to leave Refuge Victoria, select option a or b:
“I give:
A) The sum of $(amount); or (specific items); or
B) The residue, (or %) of the residue, of my estate
to Refuge Victoria Incorperated (ABN 19 275 051 972) for purposes it shall determine, and this bequest will be free from all duties. The reciept of the officer (being the officer who is authorised to issue receipts) of Refuge Victoria Incorperated is a full discharge to my trustees and they are not obliged to see or enquire into the application of the subject matter of such provision.”
Please note, this suggested wording is a guide and legal advice should be sought when preparng your Will or Codicil
